TREA Memorial Foundation Board of Trustees

A Board with over 100 years of military service combined knows how to Help Our Troops!

The staff and volunteers at the Retired Enlisted Association Memorial Foundation could do very little without the help we get from the thousands of supporters who help make our work possible. YOU make the work the Board and staff do possible. THANK YOU!

Larry Anderson, Chairman, Active Duty 1966 - 1986, is an Air Force veteran with 20 years of service.  Besides his work as a communications engineer, Larry has been actively involved in his community.  He enjoys coaching youth baseball, working as a youth sports official, and volunteering with Special Olympics.

Ed Cates, Treasurer/Trustee, Active Duty 1965 - 1996, served 30 years in the USAF and his goal, as a member of the Foundation’s board is to increase the visibility of the Memorial’s programs among both active duty and retired members of the military. While Ed works a full time job in Colorado and also volunteers with the American Red Cross, he is an active member of the Board and is especially interested in helping Iraq veterans, since he has a family member who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.

Joseph Tabacheck, Jr., Trustee, Active Duty 1963 - 1987, was in the Air Force for 24 years.  He enjoys learning and has recently graduated from a Pharmacy Technician program. He spends his time volunteering at a number of places including Buckley AFB, and has worked with Volunteers of America.  He is an eager, new member of TREA who enjoys serving on the Foundation’s Board.

Thelma Hairston, Secretary/Trustee, is the wife of a 20 year USAF veteran, a former information services librarian, former parliamentarian for the Association, and an active member of her church as well as the Retired Enlisted Association Women’s Auxiliary. Thelma has a special interest in emergency family assistance and making sure the Foundation is able to provide it.

William B. De Boer, Sr., Immediate Past Chairman, Active Duty 1952 - 1980, served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and now lives in Colorado Springs with his wife, Alice. Bill serves as the current Chairman of the TREA Memorial Foundation and is a long time Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) member. While the position of Chairman means Bill’s plate is very full, he somehow manages to also serve as Treasurer for TREA’s Colorado Springs Chapter. As if all that is not enough, Bill also performs volunteer work at the pharmacy on a nearby Air Force Base where he is in constant contact with wounded vets, active duty military, their families and the military personnel who help those families when the need arises. This gives Bill a tremendous insight into what vets and military families need, and how the Foundation can best meet these needs. Bill, along with all the Foundation Board members, is not compensated in any way and volunteers hundreds of hours a year in an effort to serve military families.
